This Winton Hawaiian Moon parlour guitar was a model made by the Kay Musical Instrument Company of Chicago between 1935 and 1940. The Winton brandname would most likely be for a particular retailer, although I can find little information about it on the internet. Note the deep V shape to the back of the neck in the above photo; this was actually quite a common neck shape back in the day. Of course, what really makes the guitar is the Hawaiian graphic on the guitar's top; I'm sure they won't be to everyone's taste but I think it is particularly attractive.

Acoustic don't get much curvier than this. It's a Jon Kammerer Glitter Rose series 6-25G electro-acoustic guitar, and despite its black finish is not made from carbon fibre or some high density plastic, but is of maple construction with an ebony fingerboard. The guitar is fitted with an L.R. Baggs Element pickup. The innovative, patented parabolic design is said to increase structural strength and durability, yet maintain tonal projection while reducing the size/weight of traditional acoustic guitars.

Currently being auctioned on eBay with bidding at $267 at the time of writing this blog post and just over 18 hours to go.

Here is a early guitar from Chicago's Kay Musical Instrument Company; the seller claims it is from 1929 but this is unlikely seeing as the company wasn't formally established until 1931.

This Kay Wood Amplifying guitar (that's what it says on the headstock) would appear to be some little known species of resonator guitar. Of course, most resonator guitars use one or more spun metal cones to project the sound forward, but this Kay instead has a wooden resonating chamber with a trough that feeds the sound upwards to the dual grille holes. The chamber is covered by a wooden coverplate which helps give it the appearance of a resonator. How well it actually works in practice, I am afraid I cannot tell you.

Currently listed on eBay with a starting price of $995 and no bids at the time of writing. Bear in mind that similar instruments have been listed for over $3,000.

Following on directly from our previous post here is another vintage Japanese-made Domino guitar from the same eBay seller. This one is a Domino Baron 12-string electric solidbody which, again, has more than a hint of Hagstrom to its design.

Regular readers may remember this collection of Dominoes that was being offered for sale on eBay back in September 2011 with a Buy It Now price of $11,000.

Unsurprisingly the collection of 12 Japanese-made Domino guitars and one Domino Combo King electric organ did not sell, and now it turns out that the seller is trying to sell the guitars individually. This 1967 Domino Dawson is a semi-hollowbody, obviously designed after the Gibson 335 although with a bolt-on neck and perhaps a touch of the Hagstrom Viking about it with its Fender-esque headstock.

This is listed on eBay which a not unreasonable Buy It Now Price of $525.

The Guild S-200 Thunderbird was the guitar of choice of Muddy Waters and and The Lovin' Spoonful's Zal Yanovsky. It was the inspiration for the 1990s Korean-made DeArmond-branded Jet Star, a guitar which is collectable enough in its own right. Naturally, the original USA-made Guild is, of course, much cooler with its antiquated looking controls, its slablike oblong DeArmond single coil pickups and the built-in stand in the back of the guitar, while the vibrato would not look out of place on one of Italy's idiosyncratic Wandre guitars.
